Next he went to the United States, where he worked as a Clinical Instructor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Stanford University Medical Center, in Stanford, California, in the field of Heart and Lung Transplant and Mechanical circulatory support. He continued his Clinical Fellowship in the USA in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Cardiac Surgery at the Heart & Vascular Institute, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Finally, he completed his Clinical Fellowship in aortic surgery with the famous aortic surgeon J. S. Coselli, at the Baylor St’ Luke’s Medical Center, Baylor College of Medicine & Texas Heart Institute, Houston, Texas, USA.
He returned to Europe as L. Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust, Great Britain, and then to Greece, as an attending surgeon at the 2nd Cardiac Surgery Clinic at the Hygeia Hospital.
Cardiac surgeon Konstantinos Spiliotopoulos has a F.E.T.C.S certification from the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons and a ECFMG & USMLE Step 3 certification from the USA. He is the author of more than 20 original scientific articles - which have been published in the most accredited scientific journals in the USA and Europe, he is a guest reviewer in international journals of the sector and has given podium presentations at international and national scientific conferences.
